It has a unique and special atmosphere different from markets in Central Europe, with unconventional drink stands and large yurt-like tents in which people can shelter from the cold and join cultural activities to celebrate the special Christmas experience.

Our proposal for the invited competition for designing a new residential area in the Ostrava New Karolina District

November 20th, 2018 – The project consist in the design of residential and commercial buildings in the area of a former industrial space that used to function as a coal mine with a coke oven and where now exists only one big old reconstructed building that is used as a multifunctional space. The concept of our design for the buildings with 400 apartments and comercial spaces is making allusion to Ostrava industrial heritage, with narrow towers resembling the factory chimneys, and using dark red color, the same as the old bricks of the industrial buildings.

Our design winner of the 2nd prize in the invited competition in Prague

November 8th, 2018 – We won the 2nd prize in the invited competition to design a new building near the centre of Prague, in Strakonická street next to the Vltava riverbank. The design of the building is curved shape and has two elevations defined by their specific functions. A residential one with apartments that are mostly oriented towards Vltava river offering a great view of Vyšehrad Castle, and a retail one with offices occupying the ground floor and the first floors where there is a lack of daylight. While the residential part is made using brickyard cladding, the office section is designed as an abstract glazed surface creating a combination that gives a unique appearance to the building in the context of the whole city.

The project consists of the creation of a complete new pavilion D and the reconstruction of the existing pavilion C, which dates from the 1950s. July 20th, 2018 – The unique locality in question is situated just off the centre of Prague, boasting a great potential to become one of the most attractive city parts. Our intention is to cooperate with Penta Real Estate, whose objective is to transform the area into a high quality metropolitan complex with nearly 400 apartments in its northern part. The premises, which are currently rather neglected, used to serve as the production site of what once was one of the largest breweries in Central Europe. We seek to overhaul its northern section, making the most of the historical values created in the era when the site functioned as a Prague Nusle community centre.

A wine bar with a tasting room is to be a part of the gallery, giving guests a chance to sample the best wines of the region. Our proposal takes advantage of the existing rooms‘ six metres of clear height, which is divided into a wide variety of spaces of various scales and atmospheres by a set of load bearing walls made out of glass bricks. Each of the bricks to be used exclusively for this project are made from recycled wine bottles. New generously dimensioned wall windows are oriented towards the town, offering generous views of it.

New look of the Karlin metro station in Prague

Other features of the design are the remembrance of František Křižík, the engineer and inventor who had his factory near the current station and after whom the station was named, and the implementation of intensive greenery in order to improve the local climate.
