The current hospital premises are located in the southern part of the city Hradec Kralove. The University Hospital was made to initiate an international two-phase architecture competition to modernize the Surgical Centre.
Proposal represents a pleasant space which would have a positive impact on employees, patients and visitors. Emphasis is put on greenery – facades are grown with viny plants, patients can access the smaller gardens around each hospital room and, moreover, the whole building is surrounded by a park. The building is accessible from various directions and enables to use its parterre as a public space. There are ambulant wards on the first floor, technical and educational spaces on the second floor, operating theatres on the third floor and hospital rooms together with green rooftops on the top floor.
