The sugar factory in Modrany used to form a highlight of Modrany and this part of Prague on the south side of the river Vltava. We aim at preserving the identity of the area. In this respect, we will enhance the appearance of the area in relation to its history and character of the location. Our primary objective is to turn the current brownfield of the sugar factory into a new residential area which will be functionally diverse and which will newly interconnect the city with the river Vltava. From the point of view of urban planning, there is a capacity for a whole range of various activities both for the current and new citizens of Modrany. Besides good-quality and affordable living, it will offer a new square with a multifunctional pavilion, a park for doing sports and enjoying leisure time activities, an exposition of the historical part of the sugar factory underground, a nursery school and, last but not least, an active waterfront.
